The annual Agribusiness Australia Scholarship for young Australians to undertake tertiary education in agriculture is now open.
Final year high school students who are looking to undertake studies in agriculture are encouraged to apply to ensure that the sector, worth more than $500 billion to the Australian economy, continues to prosper.
Each year a recipient is selected from a different State or Territory (based on the location of the Association’s annual general meeting), with the successful recipient receiving $1000 per year for three consecutive years of study, with continuous enrolment in a university-related degree.
In 2017 the scholarship is open to eligible students based in Western Australia.
Tim Burrow, Agribusiness Australia chief executive officer, said with agribusiness being such a critical pillar of the nation’s economy it was a privilege as an association to support a student into this exciting sector.
“The secondary school networks have always been very positive about the scholarship and are confident that in 2017 there are many young students who would embrace the opportunity to have their future studies supported by such a fantastic scholarship,” Mr Burrow said.
Previous recipient, Molly Ashby, is amazed at the opportunities her scholarship has provided.
“I am grateful for the financial assistance which has allowed me to really focus on my studies and to travel further abroad to learn more about the sector that I am so passionate about,” Molly said.
Applications close 11 August 2017, with the winner announced at the Agribusiness Australia annual dinner in Perth on 31 August 2017.
